Review: Bella Coffee & Gelato, Sugar Land

Conveniently located right next door to Bombay Pizza Co. is Bella Coffee and Gelato--also owned by the Patel family who own the pizzeria! My daughter Helena is VERY fond of gelato, really enjoying Frozen Café and Piccomolo's.  So with some gentle persuasion on her part, we tromped next door to check it out.  Much to my delight, I found there was a 10% discount if you showed a receipt for Bombay Pizza Co. for the same day--nice unexpected bonus.  But would the gelato be worth it?  My daughter seemed to think so and after a cursory inspection and a conversation with the employee, we decided to give it a go.  I bought two small gelato servings, which allowed for 2 different flavours.  I had a taste of each flavour and let the kids gobble up all the rest, which was substantial.

Decisions, Decisions--says Helena

Helena chose a coconut almond joy and sweet caramel drizzle for her flavours.  Jason chose Cookie Monster (sweet cream with fragments of Oreo and Biscotti in it) and Baccio (coco hazelnut--kinda like nutella) for his.  I sampled some of each and was quite impressed with the smooth texture, the fact that other than the Cookie Monster they were only mildly sweet, and with the overall density and non drippiness of their gelato.  The lady working the counter was very patient with me and my kiddos as we asked a bunch of questions about the flavours, and she also shared a few tips about some flavours they've had on other days, but not that particular day we went.
